Guaranteed Grants for International Students in Canada

Canadian universities have enticing offers available for international students who wish to study in Canada. These include athletic grants, academic grants and more. Some universities even offer guaranteed grants based on your academic performance in secondary school.

Finding grants for international students in Canada doesn’t have to be difficult. Many colleges that award grants and scholarships to their students also offer the same scholarships and grants to international students who wish to study at a Canadian university. There are many programs available from secondary school through graduate school to help international students get an education at some of the finest schools in Canada.

Farleigh Dickinson University is one such school that offers grants and scholarships to all international students. Awards may be anywhere from $2500 to $10000 per year or more. International students who choose to participate in SAT and ACT testing will also qualify for even higher award amounts. Most grants and scholarships offered can be renewed each and every year a student attends the university, providing they maintain a 3.0 GPA. These awards are typically limited, and require an athlete to demonstrate their athletic excellence in order to qualify for the varsity team at the university. Sports which may offer scholarships or grants from Canadian universities might include badminton, baseball, soccer, volleyball and basketball. These grants are not gender specific and may be awarded to male and female athletes.

The University of Saskatchewan even offers guaranteed money for international students who have achieved academic excellence. The amount you are guaranteed is based on your average grades from your top five courses in grades 11 and 12. If you averaged a 95% or greater in these five courses you will be guaranteed $3,000 towards your college admission. All students qualify who have an average score of 85% or greater (on average) in 5 courses.
