The Socan Foundation established by a board of directors mainly consisting of musical professionals in 1992, the Socan Foundation supports a greater comprehension of the relationship that exists between music creation and the prolific ideas of the music creators. The Socan Foundation administers the Creators’ Assistance Component of the CMF. The foundation provides fiscal assistance to groups of professional musicians such as songwriters, lyricists and composers in order to help them develop their music projects even further.
Some of the projects that qualify for financial assistance from this fund include seminars, workshops and performances. This particular fund does not accept grant applications from individuals. If you are in search of a grant that can offer your band financial assistance in specialized music recording, then the CCA might come to your help. This grant is available to individual artists, independent producers, record companies and bands whose main focus is on music with a contemporary feel; alternative music. For this particular grant only professional musicians are eligible to apply.
